While the Paris Climate Agreement, the Sustainable Development Goals and a variety of other international innovations attempt to mitage climate change, scientists around the world argue that it may not be enough. International pressure on State politicians must be supported by community level initiatives and resistance movements to ensure a bottom-up and participatory approach embodied in local culture and values.
In turn, this will create a multi-purpose solution as sustainability initiatives derived from an inclusive process will strengthen social cohesion by inspiring cross-culture and inter-social collaboration, key for a sound democracy and equitable institutions.
